Whale Watching Mirissa

Mirissa is our main tour location and one of the top places in the world to see blue whales.
Tours begin early in the morning as the seas are calm and whales are most active.

From May to September, we offer tours from Trincomalee, known for its calm waters and excellent chances to spot:

The east coast is ideal during the southern monsoon season, making Trincomalee a perfect off-season alternative to Mirissa.

In Trincomalee, we offer small boats only

Whale Watching Seasons

The whale watching and monsoon seasons are staggered: Trincomalee (east coast) is best for whale watching from May to October when the northeast monsoon is over and seas are calmer, while Mirissa (south coast) is best from November to April when the southwest monsoon ends. During the monsoon season, the opposite coast generally has rougher seas and fewer sightings, making it less ideal for whale watching.
